OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The Mission of McIntyre
Precision, Inc. is to provide the highest quality firearms
workmanship through the employment of cutting edge technology, and
exacting standards to obtain the highest level of customer
satisfaction and retention.
MPI
is a full service gunsmith shop that specializes in building
extremely accurate, custom precision, bolt action rifles. Only the
highest quality personnel, practices & procedures, rifle components,
tooling & jig fixtures, and shop machines are used to build a
rifle. We believe that a rifle should be more accurate than the
shooter could ever be.
Mike McIntyre
(President and Owner) is the lead riflesmith
and supervises the work that is performed in the Riflesmith Machine
Shop. He is a US Army Veteran who was a
Sniper with E Company, Recon (LRRP), 3rd Battalion, 503rd Airborne
Infantry Regiment of the 173rd Airborne Infantry Brigade when it was
stationed in the Republic of Vietnam. He was a Law Enforcement
Officer in the mid to late 70's, and after that worked for many
years (until 1991) as an independent security contractor. He is a Certified Gunsmith (AGI),
has an AS Degree as a Welding Technician, a Certified Welder, and a Journeyman Machinist (IAM).
Bill Cole is the lead gunsmith and
supervises the work that is performed in the Gunsmithing/ Repair
Department. He is a
U.S. Army Veteran who was with 75th
Rangers in the Republic of Vietnam. He was with the Lake
County Sheriff's Department in Lake County, IN. He also
has worked as an independent security contractor. Bill comes
to us from the sporting goods store, Gander Mountain at the Merrillville, IN location. He has been a working gunsmith for
over 30 years. He has worked for Westfort, Indiana Outdoor
Sports, Moreland Gunsmithing, had his own shop, and was an armorer
in the U.S. Army. He is a certified armorer for Glock, Sigarms,
Springfield Armory, Colt, Smith & Wesson, Beretta, Remington,
Winchester, and Mossberg. His expertise guarantees expert
repair and fast turn around time.
Phil Perry dropped by our shop one day and has been here every
since. Phil is a retired pistolsmith/gunsmith with 50 years
experience. He is also an ex NRA certified Police Firearms
Instructor, and a Security Firearms Instructor. He is still active
as an
NRA
certified instructor in; rifle, pistol, shotgun, personal
protection, and home firearms safety. Phil is still actively
involved in regional pistol competition. He and his wife Linda have
also competed in the Masters International Pistol Competition in
Barry, IL. Phil was a Law Enforcement Officer for many years and
continues to work with law enforcement agencies in a civilian
capacity to this day. Phil brings to MPI a wealth of experience that
both we and our customers are happy to have.
Tom Cunningham was one of the original paratroopers of the 173rd
Airborne Brigade when it was formed and activated in Okinawa, and
then deployed with the unit when it was transferred to the Republic
of Vietnam. He was also with 12th Special Forces Group. He was also a member
of the US Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, and is an honorary
life time member of that organization. He made parachute jumps, and
taught sky diving for about 30 years.
He
is retired from the Chicago Fire Department (33 ½ years), and the
Chicago Police Department (2 ½ years) after 36 years of service. He
is a Patriot & Lifetime member of the NRA, an Endowment & Lifetime
member of the Illinois State Rifle Association, a certified range
safety officer, an Election Volunteer Co-coordinator for the 11th
Congressional District, a member of the ISRA Range Facility
Committee, and 5 time member of the ISRA Nominating Committee. He is
also the owner of
TC Accessories,
and competes in various classes of rifle competition.
Tom
saw a need for case deflectors for the all of the AR platform
weapons systems (AR-15, AR-10 in any upper receiver configuration)
for both competition, and tactical use. Anyone who has ever been
burnt by a ejected case, no matter the cause, has a need for this
product. They are currently being used by competitors, and the
military has started purchasing the deflectors in large numbers.
They allow operators to give each other fire support in close
quarters without flying hot brass being a distraction. Tom currently
holds 4 US Patents, and patents in 19 foreign countries. Tom has
also developed various case deflectors for the 1911 pattern pistols,
the AK 47 rifle, and the M1A1 rifle.
Mike
Sauter is a stock holder, and part owner of MPI. Mike is a veteran
Police Officer with 27 years service. He has also been a certified
range and training officer, and is a certified gunsmith. Mike works
principally as a machinist, but is also utilized in other parts of
the shop. Mike is one of the finest combat pistoleros I have ever
seen, and works with Bill and Phil pistolsmithing whenever he can be
spared from the machine shop.
As the
President it is my job to ensure that as new
techniques and technologies are introduced, to evaluate, and if
applicable, to institute them so that we stay on the cutting edge of
our industry. We use only cryogenically treated cobalt and carbide
tooling to ensure the best finish on the machined surfaces, high
quality tool room machinery, high quality jig fixtures & tooling
components, and live-piloted oil cooled carbide chamber reamers with
a through the head stock back flushing system that ensures that
metal chips & shavings do not enter the bore or pack up in the
chamber as it is being cut (this eliminates galling, and ensures a
surface finish that is smooth and polished). Before any machine
work is performed the centerline axis of the rifle component to be
worked is established (using precise fitting mandrels), and with the
use of test indicators calibrated at .0001" (1/10,000th of an inch)
aligned all along that axis with the rotating axis of the lathe. If
axial alignment isn't established and maintained through out the
entire machining process imprecise surfaces will result which will
set up multi axis relationships to each other. This machining
technique results in parallel and equidistant surfaces to the bore
centerline or bolt bore raceway along its entire length and only
then do you truly have a blueprinted or trued rifle component. That
is tool room precision. The rifle will now exhibit precision long-range accuracy that has to be seen to be believed. This method of
machine set up requires more time, but it is very hard to argue with
the results.
All firearms coming out
of the gun repair shop are test fired to ensure functionality prior
to being released to the customer. All rifles coming out of the
machine shop that have had any accuracy enhancing procedures done to
them, are shot from the bench using a National Match Rifle Supports
Inc., Rifle Rest Model #4 (a return to battery fixture), with the
ammunition that the owner will be using, and the test target is
shipped with the rifle. No firearm will be shipped unless, and
until I'm satisfied with it. Which means that I would feel safe
carrying it in any situation or field conditions, and most
importantly, would be happy to keep it for myself.
All work that is done in
my shop is documented in detail and saved to disk so that it can
either be duplicated or reviewed at a later date. A detailed print
out of the specifications and dimensions of the work performed to
the firearm is included in the invoice given to the customer.
Having a custom built
precision rifle - a rifle made only for you - is something I feel
that every shooter should have at least one of in their lifetime. A
rifle that is in the caliber of your choice, with the custom stock
of your choice, with all the accessories of your choice, and is the
most accurate rifle that you have ever fired.
I
look forward to hearing from you.
Michael H. McIntyre
President and Owner
We are dedicated to
customer satisfaction, and as such will do everything possible to
make you happy. If for some reason you have a complaint please
contact us at 708-755-5977 or email at
mpirifles@mpirifles.com
as soon as possible so that we can resolve your issues immediately.
We accept credit cards,
cash, money orders, certified funds and personal checks (with prior
approval).
We are currently located in the
Village of Steger in Illinois (South of the Chicago suburbs in Will
County), but we are looking at property in NW Indiana. The
farther we can get from the long anti gun political reach and clout
of Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley the better.
From Chicago
Bishop Ford Freeway
(Inter-State 94) East to IL 394 South, to Steger Road turn right
(west) then proceed through 3 traffic lights to Sally Drive turn
left (south), go to the end of the street. The shop is a large
detached building behind the last house on the left side of the
street, inside a 6' tall chain link fence. Enter through the gate
on Sally Drive.
As a
Gunsmith, NRA Member and a Parent, I urge you to teach your children
"Gun Safety". Tell them to NEVER touch or go near a firearm unless
they are supervised by a responsible adult. And if they are ever in
an uncontrolled situation where a firearm is present, tell them to
GET AWAY and report the situation to an adult. PLEASE, PLEASE,
PLEASE, keep all firearms and ammunition locked up and away from
curious hands or unauthorized individuals!
